Known for his thoughtful outlook and his belief that “reason is reason,” The Sage invited Congolese writer Elodie Ngalaka to share a moment of discovery and inspiration with the children of the “Petite Main Bon Cœur” orphanage this Sunday.

The visit was dedicated to promoting a love of books among children. During this special encounter, Elodie Ngalaka captivated her young audience with a moving tale titled “The Legend of Men.” Her storytelling sparked enthusiasm and curiosity among the children, who immediately began exploring the many books that had been brought for them.

The donation of books came from several committed partners, including Bookutani, Miezi, LAESH, Le Café Littéraire de Missy, Studio Ujasiri, SALIK, and asbl BANA. Together, these organizations contributed to making the day a meaningful celebration of reading, sharing, and solidarity.

“It was a wonderful day of exchange and joy,” said The Sage. “Seeing the children’s eyes light up as they discovered the stories reminded us why books remain one of the greatest gifts we can offer.”

All of the children at the orphanage come from Beni, a region deeply affected by conflict. The initiative aims to offer them not only books but also hope, imagination, and moments of connection through literature.

Those who wish to support the children of the ‘Petite Main Bon Cœur’ orphanage can contact Mr. David Ntumba at +243 813 334 893.

The Sage hopes to welcome new visitors and partners for future reading activities in orphanages and schools across the country.
